Hello Foxfield Residents,

This is a friendly reminder that the City of Olathe municipal code requires that homeowners trim their street trees that overhang the street and the sidewalk.Tree Trimming Requirements
Per code, you must trim your trees overhanging the street to at least 13′ 6″, and you must trim your trees overhanging a sidewalk to at least 10′.

If the city deems that your tree(s) are a traffic hazard, they will, after proper notice, perform the trimming work and charge you as a special assessment.
Again, this is not an HOA restriction, this is a city code requirement. You can read more about it on the Olathe website: https://olathe.municipal.codes/Code/12.16

Remember, there is no charge to Olathe residents to dispose of your tree trimmings. You can either prepare bundles for curbside pickup, or drop off your branches at the Hedge Lane Composting facility during business hours. You can read more about the city-provide yard-waste disposal program on the Olathe website:  https://www.olatheks.org/government/utilities/recycling/yard-waste-recycling
